I had the pleasure of meeting Joh Griggs and Jason Hodges from Better Homes and Gardens as I demonstrated cuttlefish casting in Kyneton at the Lost Trades Fair this year. Did I make it on the show? We’ll find out tomorrow night.
Please contact me to arrange a visit to my studio or subscribe to my blog for an invitation to my open studio in November each year.
It’s hard to believe how quickly this year has passed, but it’s no surprise that I’m busy making exciting new jewellery for you to choose from in my studio gallery.
I’m opening my studio gallery each weekend for Christmas shopping from 3 to 18 December, Saturdays and Sundays 12 pm to 5pm @ 69 Cinerama Crescent, McCrae. Please feel welcome to drop in.
If you’re busy on the weekends, keep a look out for an open evening to be announced shortly, or give me a call to arrange a private appointment. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Expect to fill all your senses at one of my cuttlefish bone casting demonstrations on the Sunday 13th and 20th November as part of the Peninsula Studio Trail open studio weekends.
There’s the smell of the burning cuttlefish bone, the heat of the gas, the noise of the torch, and the excitement of watching as the silver becomes molten and I carefully pour into the cuttlefish bone mould.
I will talk you through the process from carving the cuttlefish to casting, then back in the studio you can learn about the finishing stages of my refined contemporary jewellery. It is here that most of the hard work is done, as I take a very rough cast to a highly polished work of art that I sell directly from my studio.
My jewellery is contemporary, some might say bold statement pieces, they reflect my love of the sea and the Australian landscape.
I’ve been a resident of the Mornington Peninsula for over 17 years, taking up the art of Cuttlefish bone casting shortly after moving to these shores.
On Saturday and Sunday 12,13, & 19, 20 November my studio will be open in conjunction with the Peninsula Studio Trail artists from 10am-5pm.
Please enjoy this article ‘Casting from Nature’ a jeweller profile featuring yours truly, which featured in Jewellery World magazine February 2016, pages 24 and 25. Many thanks to Cheryl Harty and Jewellery World for this wonderful profile.

It was a great opening of ‘Refined’ my exhibition at Antipodes Bookshop Gallery in Sorrento today. The exhibition is open 7 days a week until the 31st January. I’ll be there each weekend afternoon from 2pm. Please drop in and say hello, and learn a little about the techniques I use to make my contemporary statement jewellery.
An exhibition of my contemporary statement jewellery opening the 2nd January 2016 and running throughout January at Antipodes Bookshop Gallery, Sorrento.
‘Refined’ is an exhibition of jewellery made using the ancient technique of cuttlefish casting. Each piece, be it a pendant or a ring, is refined into an elegant work of art. They have a character all of their own, with a special feature and design that reflects my sense of place, and my relationship to the natural beauty of Australia, from the erosion of our ancient mountains, to the movement of the sea and our oceans that surround the Mornington Peninsula.
All my work is made to the highest standard, the pendants and rings are bold statement pieces, you can expect quality craftsmanship and a unique design. You’ll be sure to find the perfect piece to complement your wardrobe.
I’ll be in the gallery each weekend afternoon talking about the techniques I use and the inspiration behind each work. They’ll be over 60 pieces on display.
I’m hosting another Open Studio over the next two weekends and you’re all welcome to visit.
