This weekend please  feel welcome to come and browse through the beautiful collection of jewellery I have made that would suit your festive season party or any other occasion.

See my earlier post Brilliant Baubles for Christmas at my open studio for all my contact details.

If you can’t make it this Saturday and Sunday I am only to pleased to open by appointment.

What a difference a coat of paint can make

A friend asked for before and after photos so here they are, please excuse me for not removing the masking tape as yet. The floor had its final coat today. The sad news is that because all my equiment is in the studio, I’ve only completed half. Next step, move all the benches and equipment to the painted area and then start afresh with the sanding, undercoat, masking the skirting boards, and finally the paint, three coats.

While the paint was drying today, I finished off the path to avoid any nasty falls on tree roots as you make your way to my studio. It makes for easier navigation and appreciation of my studio. Finishing touches will include some leaf mulch and a few extra plants.

The walls are in a Natural White and the floor is a Wattyl colour called seductress.

Emu Plains Market this Saturday 20 April

I had such a good time at the last market  please come and experience the wonderful Emu Plains Market for yourself this Saturday from 8am to 1pm in Balnarring on the Mornington Peninsula.  I’ll be selling all the works available on Etsy and a whole lot more, including the rings pictured below, necklaces, earrings, pendants and bracelets.

The Emu Plains Market has been running for over 7 months and is curated by some very passionate local people.  It’s been resurrected from previous market versions held at the same venue.  This market embodies all that makes a succesful and good market, “it’s all about the community and families but most of all…it’s about you!”

At the market you will find farm fresh produce, gourmet food, artists and crafts people’s work from Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, and vintage collectables. This is the last market until October.

The market is located in Coolart Road Balnarring in the stringbark forest next to the Balnarring racecourse, it’s a lovely venue to while a few hours away and support local business.

I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, please drop by and say hello.  My stall is in Number 1 position on the day.

My stall at Somers Art Fair

Today was a beautiful Somers day of 25 degrees (but much warmer in the sunshine) that helped make the Somers Art Fair the great success that it was. Thanks to all those who stopped by.  To all those new visitors to my site please remember to subscribe to secure a discount on your purchase price.

Dichroic

My first ever batch of dichroic glass arrived from the States today. Watch out for some new lampworked beads featuring dichroic glass in the next few months.

If anyone has any handy hints on working with dichro please send me your thoughts.

Welcome to my Somers studio, the location of my first blog. This is your link to Katrina’s creations made from gold and silver, soda-lime glass, and a little Bretzel to tempt the taste buds.

Here you find me sitting at my lamp working bench preparing to make some colourful beads for my shop at katrinanewman.etsy.com and for the Somers Art Fair in October. In the background you can see the kiln where I anneal my beads & my gold and silversmithing work bench.
