I’ve been busy in my studio preparing a new selection of earrings, pendants and necklaces which will all be available at the Point Nepean Market on Sunday 30th November. Point Nepean Portsea Market is located at the Quarantine Station in Point Nepean National Park, end of Point Nepean Road, Portsea (Melway 156 C2). It’s the perfect place to do your Christmas shopping.
It’s almost Christmas, and you still haven’t found that special gift for your friend or loved one, you’re not alone. No need to panic, I have a selection of beautiful handmade glass bead earrings, pendants and necklaces combined with gold or silver findings for you to choose from.
My studio gallery will be open this Sunday 22 December from 11am – 4pm. Please feel welcome to come and browse at your leisure.
You’ll find my studio gallery at 69 Cinerama Crescent McCrae VIC 3938, on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Please phone 0413 304 013 or 5981 2131 if you are unavailable on Sunday and would like to make an appointment.
This weekend please feel welcome to come and browse through the beautiful collection of jewellery I have made that would suit your festive season party or any other occasion.
I’ve been busy preparing many new more earrings ‘brilliant baubles’ for you at my Open Studio this weekend. This photo shows me as I completed a hot glass bead on the weekend. The glasses are smoke gray safety frames that allow me to see and work with the bead without the orange flame.
As you can see I’ve made substantial progress in my studio since the post about painting the floor, which I must add looks absolutely sensational now that it has been finished. The benches and other furniture are in position so there’s almost no excuse to start creating in this beautiful place. I just need to install a few floating shelves and give the table a coat of fresh paint before I’m ready to open the doors so that you can buy my jewellery directly from me in my studio.
I have sensational views of Port Phillip Bay and Arthur’s Seat State Park from both benches in my studio. The garden around the studio is also looking beautiful in full spring bloom. I was enchanted by the studio and the garden when I moved here in late May, I hope it will be a similar experience for you when I open my door for the first time in October. I will host my first open weekend in October where you will be able to see how and where all my beautiful rings, earrings, pendants and necklaces are produced, please click on the Gallery link above for a display of past and present work.
Both the photos above show my two separate benches, one for making the gold and silver jewellery and the findings used to mount my lampworked beads, and the other close to the photographer for making the lamp worked glass beads. I’m just missing the obligatory bottle of oxygen to start the torch again.
My studio will be open regularly from October, when I look forward to making you all feel very welcome. If you need further information please click on the Contact link and send me an email.
Today was a remarkable day. As I do, after the usual shower to wash away the sleepiness, feeding the Izzy dog, not necessarily in that order, usually Izzy takes precedence, then making my way to the kitchen to make breakfast, I turned on my mobile. Ding!! Wow what’s going on. A quick glance and I notice I had a message from Etsy. I’ve got the new Etsy app on my phone which helps me manage my shop.
I noticed a familiar name and discovered that an old friend from my uni days had just made a few purchases from my shop. Wow, that’s simply great, it put a smile on my face. Many of my networks have stemmed from links back to Canberra School of Art, friends from university, working to pay the bills and family. That’s why I also use my Facebook page to promote my jewellery capturing the great network of family and friends that have been with me for as long as I can remember.
A short email that followed the purchases said and I quote “I wanted to buy everything!”. Now that’s just wonderful, the perfect customer.
I achieved another milestone today, I finished translating my shop on Etsy into French. My partner is French and although my French language skills are far from perfect, it extends my business that bit further. My sales today were all from Japan.
I watch people who wear jewellery and it pleases me when I see that they might be wearing something that is obviously handmade, but on many occasions you will find that the jewellery has been mass-produced through countries like China and Indonesia. Please continue to support small business’ like mine, and be proud to be adorned in something so beautiful and unique as you.
A friend asked for before and after photos so here they are, please excuse me for not removing the masking tape as yet. The floor had its final coat today. The sad news is that because all my equiment is in the studio, I’ve only completed half. Next step, move all the benches and equipment to the painted area and then start afresh with the sanding, undercoat, masking the skirting boards, and finally the paint, three coats.
While the paint was drying today, I finished off the path to avoid any nasty falls on tree roots as you make your way to my studio. It makes for easier navigation and appreciation of my studio. Finishing touches will include some leaf mulch and a few extra plants.
The walls are in a Natural White and the floor is a Wattyl colour called seductress.
I finally got around to slapping on the last coat of natural white paint this afternoon and ‘Voila’ it is beautiful. It really is incredible what a new coat of paint can do. The studio is gleaming. Next stop the floor. I’m not looking forward to the sanding or being on my hands and knees but it’s not a huge space, approximately 5.5 x 2.5m, so I hope to have it all done and dusted by next weekend.
I had such a good time at the last market please come and experience the wonderful Emu Plains Market for yourself this Saturday from 8am to 1pm in Balnarring on the Mornington Peninsula.
