Caring for your jewellery

All jewellery requires care to maintain its brilliance and beauty. By following these simple care instructions, your jewellery can be enjoyed for a lifetime and treasured for generations to come.

To help prevent damage to your pendants and rings, I recommend removing them before engaging in physical activities such as housework, manual labour, gardening, gym workouts, or sports.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

To keep your jewellery looking its best, use a silver or gold polishing cloth along with a gentle silver foam cleaner. After cleaning, rinse thoroughly in warm water to remove any remaining cleaning solution.

I do not recommend using Silvo or Dip cleaners on my cuttle bone cast jewellery. Dip cleaners can intensify the naturally pitted texture created during the casting process and may remove the fine silver finish — the soft white surface visible on some pendants and rings — as well as any oxidised or antiqued detailing. Dip cleaners can also shorten the lifespan of snake chains.

To clean your chain, hold one end securely and gently pull a silver or gold polishing cloth along its length.

I recommend using Hagerty Polishing Cloths together with Hagerty Silver & Metal Foam. Please feel free to contact me if you would like help sourcing these products.

Storing Your Jewellery Safely

Proper jewellery storage is often overlooked. Jewellery should never be tossed into a drawer or left exposed on a dresser, as this can lead to scratching, tangling, and tarnishing.

The box provided with your jewellery is an ideal place for storage. However, over time, some foam inserts may contribute to tarnishing. To help prevent this, I have included a small zip-lock bag for safe keeping. Alternatively, your jewellery can be stored in an anti-tarnish pouch or wrapped in an anti-tarnish cloth.
