Cradle Mountain National Park

Day one at Cradle Mountain was shrouded in cloud, though we were still able to enjoy a walk at Lake Dove and to Waldheim Chalet where I learned about the history of Cradle Mountain and the vision of one man, Gustav Weindorfer, who in 1910 was quoted as saying  ‘This must be a National Park for the people for all time. It is magnificent, and people must know about it and enjoy it.’

The grass lands on the path to Waldheim Chalet were speckled with Wombats emerging from their sleep to feed on the roots and grasses.

Day two en route to Cradle Mountain it was foggy, I was concerned about our chance of a clear day as promised by the weather reports; though on arrival the weather was perfect.
